We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join the largest paediatric psychology service in the UK to cover maternity leave. The postholder will join dynamic and supportive clinical psychology teams attached to Urology and Endocrinology. The Urology Department is nationally and internationally recognised for clinical excellence and for pioneering life-saving surgical techniques. The Endocrinology Department is the largest specialist service for children and young people with endocrine problems and diabetes mellitus in Europe and, in conjunction with UCLH, forms the London Centre for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes.Clinical Psychology is a highly valued profession within each multi-disciplinary team helping to optimise medical care by working with patients, their families and the MDT who are struggling with procedural fear, treatment adherence and medical decision-making as well as supporting staff wellbeing in a busy acute medical environment. The postholder will also be a part of innovative individual, group and social interventions designed to support children and families managing illness-related stigma and young people developing independent identities that incorporate significant differences such as differences in sexual development.
Main duties of the job
The postholder will have opportunities to develop supervision, teaching and training skills with our large team of pre-qualification psychologists including trainee clinical psychologists. The postholder will have opportunities to develop research skills by participating in the ongoing programme of quality improvement and research projects in conjunction with UCL Institute of Child Health, the largest concentration of child health research outside of North America.The postholder will be encouraged to engage with ongoing professional development opportunities with specialist departmental lecture series(TM) as well as clinical special interest groups such as in narrative therapy, ACT, medical trauma, cognitive assessment and medically unexplained symptoms and through the Institute of Child Health and GOSH Learning Academy.For more information, please contact Kristina Soon kristina.soon@gosh.nhs.uk; Sarah Mann sarah.mann@gosh.nhs.uk
