An opportunity for a full time Locum Paediatric Cardiologist with expertise in inherited cardiovascular diseases has arisen at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. This is fixed term for 12 months initially.Start Date: August 2025

This post is available for a consultant with experience in inherited cardiovascular conditions including acute and elective management of young patients and families with diverse genetically determined cardiovascular conditions. The postholder will be expected to be able to independently run outpatient clinics and inpatient care and will join our large and expanding multidisciplinary Team.The successful candidate will also participate in the general Paediatric Cardiology consultant on call rota.

Main duties of the job

We are the largest centre in Europe for the care of inherited cardiovascular disease in children, and are part of the UCLP Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases service, the largest centre for inherited cardiac conditions in Europe. The service at GOS is part of the Cardiac Unit at Great Ormond Street Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, and includes disease-specific clinics for cardiomyopathies, inherited arrhythmia syndromes, aortopathy syndromes and rare diseases with cardiovascular involvement. Families are seen at Great Ormond Street for screening, diagnosis, evaluation and management. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team that includes clinical nurse specialists, clinicians' assistants, clinical psychologists and paediatric cardiac technicians, with close links to the electrophysiology, cardiac transplantation and clinical genetics teams. Prof Juan Pablo Kaski is the lead clinician for the service.

The successful applicant will join a team of 3 inherited cardiology consultants and 1 clinical cardiovascular genetics consultant to deliver inpatient and outpatient care to children and adolescents with a broad range of inherited cardiac conditions. The post will involve a combination of inpatient and outpatient-based work, as well as participation in the general paediatric cardiology on-call rota (1 in 12, Category A).
