Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) is a national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK. It has the largest Paediatric Haematology and Oncology centre in Europe.

An opportunity has arisen in the Department of Haematology's - Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service for a Medical Laboratory Assistant. This is an excellent post for an enthusiastic and scientifically innovative individual.Relevant experience in a clinical Haematology or Molecular Laboratory is desirable but not essential as training will be given.

The department provides a range of clinical and diagnostic services to abroad range of specialities such as Haematology-Oncology, Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation, Gene Therapy and Thymus Transplantation.

Main duties of the job

You will assist the Molecular Haematology and Flow Cytometry Teams in the day to day running of the Laboratory. You will carry out several sample reception and sample preparation duties such as cell separations, DNA/RNA extractions and cell storage.

Experience/knowledge of Quality Management Systems, the ClinicalLaboratory accreditation process and associated standards (ISO 151890) is also desirable. Excellent organisational skills are essential as is the ability to effectively communicate with other laboratory and clinical staff.
