Job summary

The Paediatric Gastroenterology team at Great Ormond Street Hospital are inviting applications for a Clinical Fellow within the subspecialty Neurogastroenterology and Motility.

This post provides a unique and exciting opportunity for applicants who wish to extend their clinical experience in Paediatric Neurogastroenterology and Motility Disorders, within the unique and supportive environment of Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The appointment will be for 12 months starting from June 2025, with the potential thereafter of extension by mutual agreement.

In this post, you will be working as part of a MDT and will be responsible for providing senior middle grade care for both inpatients and outpatients, ensuring continuity of care for patients and families as they progress through treatment.

The successful applicant will be subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. There may also be potential scope for possible other ST6 positions later in the year.

There will be training associated with the post and you will be treated equitably to trainees in recognised training posts. However, this post is not recognised for training. Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) is a national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder, in collaboration with the named consultant, will predominantly be involved in the clinical management for children under the Neurogastroenterology and Motility Service (NMS).

This will involve:

  • Managing NMS admissions within Gastroenterology.
  • Providing medical review and the on-going management of NMS patients through inpatient admissions and outpatient follow-up visits
  • Performing the upper and lower endoscopy (there are two scheduled endoscopy lists for NMS patients) in line with their experience.
  • Reporting pH-impedance studies, reviewing and reporting manometry studies, after training and under supervision.

Providing cross-cover and sickness cover for gastroenterology inpatient service, including prospective cover for wards, external referral, internal consults and day ward.
