Job summary

This post will form locum cover (10 PAs) for an existing member of our consultant team. The post holder will contribute to the emergency and outreach work of the department. The post will not have a specific specialist interest but the post holder will be at liberty to involve themselves and gain experience with specialist colleagues delivering care in upper and lower gastro-intestinal surgery, oncology and thoracic surgery.

Main duties of the job

The appointment is for a 10 PA Consultant Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeon. The surgeon, in conjunction with the current team of Specialist Paediatric and Neonatal Surgeons, will be responsible for delivering a comprehensive surgical service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The appointee will be expected to deliver the highest possible standards of care for patients. The successful applicant will have a commitment to the use of advanced minimal access techniques. They will be expected to take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training of health care professionals. They will work collaboratively within the multi-disciplinary teams involved in providing patient care.
