Job summary
1 year locum consultant position in Neurodisability with Special Interest in Movement Disorders.
We are looking for a Locum Consultant in the Movement Disorder Clinic with experience in assessment and management of children with complex neurodevelopmental motor disorders and there is a view to establish this into a substantive post with the option of additional activities and sessions.
As a consultant in the Neurodisability Department, the successful candidate will attend movement disorder service routine clinics including the botulinum toxin and neuro-orthopaedic services, with occasional support to the selective dorsal rhizotomy service. The successful candidate will attend attend Neurospines clinics quarterly with some input to Spinal MDT meetings. We are looking for a candidate tocontribute to their ongoing research portfolio and teaching portfolio to the Neurodisability service.
The Locumconsultant will work as part of a MDT including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, orthopaedic surgery and neurosurgery.
The Locumconsultant will provide inpatient consults in relation to management of movement disorder, botulinum toxin provision
Main duties of the job
The new Locum consultant will be working within Neurodisability, as a member of a multi-disciplinary team that includes colleagues from different professional groups, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy and nursing. S/he needs to understand and respect the competencies of other team members, developing shared goals and values to deliver the best care for the child. S/he will be sensitive to multi-disciplinary team working rather than expecting to work in a pure medical model.
The locum consultant will work closely with colleagues in neurosciences and other specialties at Great Ormond street Hospital to deliver care for their own patients and support related services within neurosciences.
