Job summary

To efficiently manage and coordinate reactive maintenance services across the Trust, taking a lead in providing technical and operational support in the absence of the Head of Estates. Responsible for ensuring the implementation of relevant policies and standard/emergency operating procedures, as well as compliance with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.

The job holder will demonstrate strong management and leadership skills and possess in-depth knowledge of complex Electrical and mechanical engineering services within the healthcare sector.

Main duties of the job

The role involves overseeing electrical and mechanical maintenance operations, which are carried out by estate maintenance staff and both internal and external contractors. This is to ensure a safe and secure environment that operates with optimal efficiency while staying within the available resources.

Additionally, the position includes responsibility for procuring services and materials that offer the best value within authorized budget limits for the day-to-day maintenance activities of the Trust. The job holder may also be required to perform duties as an Authorised Person/Responsible Person as needed, following the guidelines outlined in the Department of Health HTM. Participation in the Estates Department's Engineering on-call team is another aspect of this role.
