Job summary
You will work as a key member of the Capital Projects team, based in the Space & Place directorate. This team leads all Capital Projects, ranging from small scale projects to major phase developments.
This is a excellent opportunity for a junior project manager or assistant project manager working on smaller projects who is looking to grow their career in a highly experienced and dynamic team.
You will be supported during larger projects by supervision, shadowing and regular feedback. This will give the candidate the opportunity to gain vital first hand experience of managing larger projects.
You will be expected to manage schemes identified within the Trust's capital building programme, including appointing contractors in line with the team's procurement processes, and to undertake both major capital and minor works schemes. You will be expected to deputise for the Capital Project managers.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder is part of a dedicated team responsible for the management and completion of the Trust's capital building works programme.
- The Project Manager should have comprehensive understanding of NHS space planning, design and Contract management and provide reports and feasibility presentations to support the Trusts briefing and Outline Business requirements.
- To procure all specifications, drawings, contract and tender documentation required to manage building construction schemes.
- To produce and negotiate scheme approvals with Local Authority Planning legislation.
- To co-ordinate the Building Industry's Professional good practice procedures and ensure that all schemes comply with the current legislation.
- Lead specialist on estate capital programmes and estate revenue schemes
- Work with the Head of Projects to ensure that all aspects of building projects are co-ordinated and completed. This includes: Production of building specifications & contract documentation for tendering; ensuring that the Trust's briefing processes are adhered to and approved; management of contract expenditure including settlement of final accounts and to work within the Trust's departmental policies and procedures.
