We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 Team Leader in Interventional Radiology /XMR.

At this senior level you must have experience of working within a theatre department preferably Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath lab . You will be charged with the day to day running of the neurosurgical theatre, responsible for managing the nursing team and expected to work alongside and in collaboration with the multi professional team.

You will have the support of the Theatre Team Leaders, our Theatre Matrons as well as our dedicated Practice Education Team who will also assist with your orientation and on-going professional development.

Great Ormond Street Hospital is an internationally renowned hospital for children at the cutting edge of paediatric surgical advances and innovations, and is close to all central London amenities.

We currently have 15 operating theatres and cater for a number of specialities including Cardiac, Neuro, Orthopaedic, Spinal, Craniofacial, General Surgery, Plastics, ENT, Urology and Ophthalmology.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a competent, knowledgeable and visible practitioner within the speciality, ensuring the provision of high quality evidence base nursing care.
  • To ensure the 6Cs are embedded within clinical practice.
  • To ensure clinical practice reflects NMC guidance and practice is delivered in line with the scope of practice and trust policies and guidelines
  • To provide direct clinical care for patients undergoing Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Cath Lab surgery in theatres
  • To respond to clinical emergencies within the theatre environment, utilising clinical judgement and decision making to initiate appropriate interventions and treatments for patients.
  • To foster an environment conducive to learning, enquiry and research.
  • To identify the training, learning and development needs of nursing staff/learners in the department and participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of education programmes in relation to Peri-operative practice
  • To maintain confidentiality surrounding the child's admission and treatment at all times
