Job summary
An excellent opportunity has presented itself at Great Ormond Street Hospital Trust, Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children (ZCR) for a Cleanroom Technician in our Cell and Gene Therapy Service. This is a full-time contract for a well-motivated and enthusiastic cleanroom technician to contribute to the success of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Gene and Cell Therapy and Cellular. We are proud of being part of a well renowned national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK.
The Cell and Gene Therapy Service manufactures life-saving therapies for paediatric patients under MHRA licence. We are expecting to soon manufacture within our new state of the art, purpose-built facility (ZCR), comprising of seven cGMP compliant laboratories and support services. Our manufacturing facilities are licensed by the MHRA to allow us to function within the terms of our MIA(IMP) and MS licences.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will have responsibilities for assisting in the cleaning and maintenance of these laboratories and in supporting senior scientists working in the labs, to provide laboratory and administrative support to ZCR GMP laboratories. The post-holder will carry out scheduled equipment maintenance in the laboratories in conjunction with engineers and / or scientific staff, observing the special requirements for workers entering the clean rooms

We are therefore seeking a candidate with a strong background in cleanroom activities and a comprehensive understanding of GMP principles. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent teamwork, attention to detail, ability to accurately follow instructions, and ability to work under pressure. Effective communication, both written and verbal, is crucial for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
The post holder will report to the Deputy Laboratory Manager and will be responsible for carrying out a variety of GMP Core tasks including scheduled cleaning and monitoring of the GMP facility and equipment, material transfer, provide training to other members of staff on equipment, procurement, and receipt of materials, manage stock, and assisting with GMP documentation control.
