Job summary
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic experienced pharmacist to further advance their career by joining the General Medicine Pharmacy team at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Senior Specialist Pharmacist within International Private Patients
You will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, alongside clinical knowledge, and the ability to work within a team. You will play an active role in ensuring adherence to standards, promoting patient safety, and helping to support medicines management within International Private Patients.
You will be part of an expert multidisciplinary team contributing to the safe and pharmaceutically appropriate clinical service to children within General medicines and Surgery.
Youwill be supported by our experienced and friendly Consultants, Registrars, Specialist Nurses and Pharmacy team.
You must have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and be a self-starter. Experience working within paediatrics including delivering a ward-based pharmacist role. The team of pharmacists you will join are experienced and extremely supportive
Main duties of the job
- To deliver a clinical ward-based pharmacy service to the inpatients and day units
- To liaise with the consultants and senior nursing staff to deliver and promote high quality, cost effective and patient-focused pharmaceutical care
- To prepare new drug submissions and prescribing guidelines for the Drug & Therapeutics Committee taking into account all relevant local and national policies and procedures. This also includes implementing, monitoring and updating current prescribing guidelines
- To lead, support and develop junior pharmacists and foundation pharmacists in their clinical rotations
- To participate in the induction of staff. This includes induction of resident pharmacists to ensure familiarity and understanding of policies/procedures and dispensing practices during out of hours.
- To support the pharmacists working within the CIVAS unit with prescription screening.
- To participate in departmental and multidisciplinary audit/research activities, to ensure that cost-improvement and quality targets are met
- To attend Departmental meetings, communicate information, keep one's self informed and maintain an active CPD portfolio.
