An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Research Coordinator to join the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Great Ormond Street Hospital Biomedical Research Centre's (GOSH BRC) Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine (TERM) theme.

The NIHR GOSH BRC is a partnership between Great Ormond Street Hospital and the University College London (UCL) Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (ICH). The TERM theme aims to pioneer the repair and reconstruction of tissues and organs to treat children with structural malformations, tissue and organ failure, and to improve their life expectancy and quality of life. The theme combines expertise in stem cell biology, iPSC platforms, bioengineering, and surgery to pioneer laboratory-grown organs and develop strategies for tissue and organ restoration.

As the TERM Research Coordinator, you will be specifically responsible for the coordination and day to day management of a portfolio of studies aligned to Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine research theme. The main purpose of this role is to coordinate sample collection from surgeries at GOSH for the lab research studies at GOSH/GOS ICH.

Main duties of the job

You will work collaboratively and closely with the lead consultants, surgical teams, theatre staff and histopathology department providing expert coordination support in a clinical and academic research environment.

You will be committed to following up patients for the studies and will be a key link for patients and their families through the process of support and information for study inclusion.

You will participate in the process of the consenting to the research studies. You will coordinate sample collection from the operating room for research projects at GOSH/UCL GOS ICH. Please note that this would regularly require attendance to surgery briefs at 8am.

You will be responsible for collating and managing regulatory documentation to ensure the team is conducting research in accordance with UK and/or EU regulation(s) and local guidance. This varied and challenging post will also involve preparation of R&D submissions, and dissemination of information about studies and upkeep of research databases. You will be expected to be aware of, and had experience of, working with research-specific databases and applications, such as IRAS.

You will be a member of the core BRC team. You will have a degree or equivalent in a scientific area and experience either coordinating patient recruitment to research studies, or supporting administrative activity within a research environment (e.g. Higher Education, NHS, charity, other funding body).
