An excellent opportunity has presented itself at Great Ormond Street Hospital Trust, Zayed Centre for Research into Rare Disease in Children (ZCR) for a Quality Control Technician in our Cell and Gene Therapy Service. The Cell and Gene Therapy Service manufactures life-saving therapies for paediatric patients under MHRA licence. We are expecting to soon manufacture within our new state of the art, purpose-built facility (ZCR), comprising of seven cGMP compliant laboratories and support services. Our manufacturing facilities are licensed by the MHRA to allow us to function within the terms of our MIA(IMP) and MS licences.
The Quality Control Technician will be responsible to carry out routine environmental monitoring activities in Cell & Gene Therapy Service (C>S). The postholder will also involve in stock control and releasing materials and consumables for use in the cleanrooms as well as supporting relevant sample tests
Main duties of the job
We are seeking a candidate with abackground in QC and a comprehensive understanding of GMP principles. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent teamwork, attention to detail, ability to accurately follow instructions, and ability to work under pressure. Effective communication, both written and verbal, is crucial for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
The post holder will report to the Quality Control Manager and will be responsible for carrying out a variety of QC tasks including:
- Carrying out routine physical and microbiological environmental monitoring activities in Cell & Gene Therapy Service (C>S)
- Incubating and examining environmental microbiological media post incubation, enumeration and recording results, raising deviations and conducting investigations where necessary
- Reporting and reviewing monitoring results
- Perform periodical trending review of EM data
- Supporting QMS actions if required
- Stock control and releasing materials and consumables for use in the cleanrooms
- Act as a trainer for staff personnel validations including handwash, spray and wipe, and gowning
- Assisting in the control and archiving of GMP documentation
- Sending QC samples to contract testing laboratories and ensure reports are received in a timely manner
