Job summary
We have a vacancy for enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant who will beresponsible for topping up wards, receiving deliveries and providingadministration support for Procurement and Distribution Teams.You will work as part of a team of Pharmacy Assistants by assisting with the accurate receipt of medicines into the Hospital and the replenishment of medicines used on the wards . You must have excellent attention to detail and be willing to undertake a training module relating to the job role. We support training and progression throughout the Pharmacy DepartmentWe are looking for someone with a good understanding of spoken and writtenEnglish, basic Maths, basic IT and good communication skills in order to deal with a wide variety of pharmacy staff and ward staff.You should be able to follow procedures closely and be able work well in ateam or alone to provide a high-quality patient-focused service.

Main duties of the job
- The post holder will be required to participate in the Ward topping up service on a regular basis
- To accurately check and receive all goods addressed to the Pharmacy against delivery notes and complete computer transactions in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- To ensure that all received goods are processed in accordance with the correct storage requirements and handling procedures.
- To complete the Quality Assurance paperwork and record batch numbers and expiry dates for unlicensed and "special" medicines and isolate the stock in the appropriate location
- To rotate stock stored within the distribution area to ensure that short dated items are used first
- To ensure that goods are stored in the correct location according to the computer and inform the Senior Technician, Purchasing & Distribution of any anomalies
- In conjunction with the Pharmacy Technician on rotation in Distribution, process stock requests from Theatres, wards and departments promptly and prioritise urgent requests
- To participate in the ward top-up rota for the replenishment of stock items, liaising with the ward pharmacists and ward staff on a regular basis as required
- To attend monthly departmental meetings and other arranged CPD sessions, in order to keep one self-informed and to communicate information
