Job summary

The North Thames Paediatric Network has a fantastic opportunity to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract or secondment as a Quality Improvement Nurse working on key local and regional projects e.g. workforce, SPOT/PEWS and other related network areas of improvement. Are you a looking for a developing project/quality improvement role within a passionate, expert, ambitious and innovative team dedicated to the transformation of children and young people's services?

The North Thames Paediatric Network (the Network/ NTPN) prides itself on bringing together 25 provider hospitals in the North Thames region (19 DGHs and 6 providers of specialist services).

We have a very clear vision: to function as a virtual children's hospital across the North Thames area so that every child in any hospital gets access to the best high level care possible. This is very ambitious, but it is something that we can achieve if we work together. In a seamless healthcare system, it is possible, and we need to make it work for our children.

The Network prides itself on its' members working collaboratively regardless of organisational boundaries to develop cost-effective, new models of paediatric specialist care that are planned around children and young people's care needs rather than the service itself.

Please contact amy-victoria.hunter@gosh.nhs.ukfor further details or enquiries.

Main duties of the job

Key areas of activity within the Network include:

  • Paediatric Critical Care, including high dependency care and long term ventilation
  • Paediatric Surgery and Anaesthetics
  • Cancer services for children, teenagers and young adults
  • Congenital Heart Disease (adult and child)
  • Gastroenterology
  • Healthcare Transition
  • Neurology and Neurodisability
  • Paediatric Dental (Project Tooth Fairy)
  • Children and Young People's Transformation Board
  • Surge Planning and Paediatric Recovery Post-Covid

This is an exciting opportunity and a brand new role within our expanding paediatric network.

The applicant will need to have demonstrated experience at managing some local quality improvement projects. The post-holder should also be a competent self-starter and in return the Network can offer regional and national exposure and development in senior projects/workstreams as well as leadership skills.

The post holder will have a one year fixed term contract with Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. This contract will be reviewed and renewed annually subject to satisfactory performance and funding. Secondments to the role will also be considered. All newly appointed employees are subject to a six month probationary period. The post holder will be directly line managed by the Network Lead Nurse for Education, Risk Governance and Paediatric Critical Care and accountable to the Network Director.
