Locum 10 PA's position
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) and Royal Free London Hospitals (RFH) are currently inviting applications for a full time Paediatric Consultant to join our Gastroenterology team, working across both sites.
This exciting opportunity is for a locum full-time post to work in this unique and supportive environment within a busy children's hospital. The successful applicant will join a team of 15 consultants delivering paediatric gastroenterology services across North Central London. They will run general GI clinics and IBD clinics at the Royal Free site and the successful applicant will also be required to undertake one endoscopy list on alternative weeks at GOSH, with additional cases under general anaesthesia as required. The successful applicant will contribute to a non-resident on-call service at Royal Free Hospital.
Applicants are expected to be MRCHP/MRCHPCH qualified or equivalent, and have extensive experience in general paediatrics, paediatric gastroenterology as well as clear evidence of experience in the field of Neurogastroenterology & Motility.
Main duties of the job
Specific Clinical Duties
The post holder will share the outpatient and inpatient service with the other post holders. The post consists of 3 fixed outpatient clinics per week, with a rapid access paediatric gastroenterology assessment session once a week. At least 2 clinics will be performed at RFH, and some extra clinic/additional clinical duties will be performed at GOSH. The post holder will also provide gastroenterology support to patients not under the care of the Gastroenterology Team. The GOSH additional sessions and activity will be performed within the GOSH IBD Unit.
At RFH as a tertiary paediatric gastroenterologist, the post holder will work closely with a team of general paediatricians within Child Health. The general paediatricians will be providing a consultant delivered service 24 hours a day and this will include provision of care to paediatric gastroenterology patients in consultation with the paediatric gastroenterologists.
Paediatric Gastroenterology non-resident on-call commitments (evenings and weekends) are shared between 3 consultants (Type B).
The post holder will have direct responsibilities of training, appraisal and teaching of one of the middle grade doctors within the unit.
