Applications are invited for a 7.5 PA Substantive Consultant post in Paediatric Palliative Medicine (PPM) at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) foundation trust. The post holder will bean integralmember of the Louis Dundas Centre for Paediatric Palliative Care in the Blood Cells and Cancer Directorate.

The Louis Dundas Centre (LDC) at GOSH is one of the leading paediatric palliative care teams in Europe. The Centre aims to bring together academic research and clinical expertise to ensure that children, young people and families have access to specialist care of the highest standard. The Centre is linked with the UCL Institute of Child Health

This role will promote and support the delivery of all aspects of palliative and end-of-life care to GOSH patients referred from multiple sources within London and the South East of England. The team's activity is undertaken both on site and in the patients' homes, local hospital or hospices.

Main duties of the job

Main duties and responsibilities:

Consultant daytime working hours are Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. The LDC office hours are Monday-Friday 8am-6pm and the ANP, CNS's admin within the LDC team work to these hours. There is the potential for the post holder to work flexibly within week-day hours 8am-6pm or on an annualised job plan, subject to agreement and review through annual team job planning and by Speciality Lead and/or Directorate Chief of Service, if appropriate to service delivery. Objectives for the LDC consultant team are set on an annual basis with individual objectives agreed with the post holder as part of an annual job plan review.

The appointee is expected to attend LDC interdisciplinary team meetings (including clinical, business and educational meetings). In addition, they will be expected to attend other departmental meetings and ward rounds as appropriate to supporting the Trust-wide integrated palliative care service.
