Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the general paediatric service at Great Ormond Street Hospital as a clinical nurse specialist. This role will involve managing the care of patients with complex health needs, helping to navigate their pathway between services both internal and external to GOSH. You will act as an advocate supporting the patient and their family during their time at Great Ormond Street and through their transition to adult services.We are looking for an experienced paediatric nurse with a vision and dedication to contribute to the continued quality and developmental success of the service, you will be confident at working within the MDT and be able to demonstrate a commitment to patients and their families both internal and external to the trust.

Main duties of the job

- Take responsibility for a defined caseload of children and families incorporating a care co-ordination remit as agreed including Complex Medical Care and Syndromes identified via specified clinics under the team of general paediatricians

- Provide effective nursing leadership, expertise, advice and support to a team / departmentand ensure the provision of high-quality care to children and families

- Act as a role model and highly competent practitioner

- Act as a designated resource to children and families, and other shared care professionals.

- Liaison with internal specialists as well as local providers

- Support patients and families during inpatient admissions

- Promote an innovative and progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence-based practice

- Use measurable outcomes for safety, patient experience and service efficiency

- Develop and update clinical practice guidelines

- Work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, Trust policies and procedures and the Trust's Personal Responsibility Framework.
