Clinical Fellow (Equivalent of ST3 -8) in Cleft Surgery
We are looking for 1 experienced registrar to join our fantastic specialist cleft surgical team for 6 month fixed term post starting from October 2024.
The hospital provides a comprehensive range of paediatric specialities at tertiary care level. In association with the Institute of Child Health there are opportunities for research, training and development in all aspects of health & disease in children.
The successful candidate will gain experience in and exposure to paediatric plastic surgery including correction of cleft lip and palate patients as well as general plastics cases.
Based in central London, GOSH offers flexible working, help with childcare and travel, excellent training and development opportunities and assistance with finding somewhere to live.

Main duties of the job
The post will have primary responsibility for the management of cleft surgical cases and for undertaking hand surgery research and is a point of continuity for hand surgery care within the Trust. The postholder is, of course, free to participate in any other plastic surgical cases that he has a particular interest in and will be encouraged to do so, providing that this is not to the detriment of hand surgery patients.
Plastic Surgery - General Information
The Plastic Surgery Department deals principally with elective cases. There are very few emergency cases, i.e. burns and trauma. The range of surgery includes the following:
Major craniofacial operations from infancy to adolescence
Clefts of lip and palate
Congenital hand and upper limb conditions
Vascular Anomalies
Congenital ear deformity
Facial Surgery to correct congenital defects e.g. Treacher-Collins Syndrome, etc.
Facial reanimation surgery
General Paediatric Plastic Surgery
There are close relationships with nursing staff on the wards and in the theatres and with therapists and the departments of Rheumatology, Dermatology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurosurgery (major craniofacial cases), Orthotics, Medical Photography and Radiology, Neurology, Genetics, Oral Surgery, Psychology, and ENT Surgery.
