Job summary

Great Ormond Street Hospital is seeking a paralegal to join the in-house Legal Team.

The Legal Team is looking for a highly capable paralegal to work closely with and support the Trust Solicitor/Barrister and Deputy Trust Solicitors on a wide range of legal matters. The post holder will also provide cross support for other members of the Legal Team. An interest in the field of inquest law is essential to the role.

The Solicitors/Barristers in the Legal Team provide advice and support on a wide range of clinical and information governance matters across the Trust. The post holder will be involved and assist with a wide range of case work including:o Treatment Orders/End of Life Care applications in the High Courto Deprivation of Liberty Authorisation applications in the Court of Protectiono Judicial Reviewso Children's Public/Private Lawo Data Protection Act/GDPR Requestso Inquestso Criminal Cases

The role lends itself to someone with an interest in healthcare law and ethics who is looking at developing that interest in a world leading children's hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • Preparing for and assisting with litigation and Court applications.
  • Attendance at Court.
  • Legal research.
  • Preparation of templates and review of witness statements.
  • Drafting correspondence including to solicitors and families.
  • Organising and attending conferences with clinicians.
  • General support and assistance for Trust Solicitors/Barristers.
  • Providing cross support for Claim's Manager, and Criminal and Inquests Manager.
