Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is an international centre of excellence in child healthcare; we are dedicated to children's healthcare and finding new and better ways to treat childhood illnesses.GOSH Technical Services department contributes greatly to the pharmacy department's vision to ensure safe, effective and rational use of medicines through the provision of high quality products and services.The department are looking for a Deputy Head of Pharmacy Manufacturing to join the team.

You will be a registered Pharmacist expected to participate in all services provided which include the Central Intravenous Additive (C.I.V.A.S), Chemotherapy Preparative and Parenteral Nutrition Services. This position also will require working closely with the Quality Assurance department for the maintenance of the Quality Management system.This is an excellent opportunity to directly input and deliver on new projects within the Pharmacy department e.g. planning of new aseptic units, optimisation phase of the EPIC system, implementation of new software and technologies, development of the departmental workforce and implementation of training programs to name but a few.This post calls for good organizational & supervisory skills to meet changing clinical and pharmaceutical needs, plus keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and technology.As the successful candidate, you will need to evidence demonstrable/substantial experience in an Aseptic manufacturing environment.

Main duties of the job

  • To be a role model for all staff working within Pharmacy Technical Services who demonstrates 'Over and Above' values.
  • To allocate operational duties to the Technical Services Pharmacists
  • In combination with the Head of Pharmacy Manufacturing, to manage Trust personnel under policies such as grievance, poor performance and disciplinary when required
  • To act as a Releasing Officer (RO) for the release of aseptically manufactured products under a Manufacturers 'Specials' licence (MS).
  • To be the leading source of expertise and direction within Pharmacy Technical Services for the operational management of the Quality System.
  • To oversee and contribute to the authorisation of Releasing Officers to release aseptically prepared product
  • To develop, plan and deliver accreditation programs, training and supervision to develop the skills of individual team members
  • To attend all appropriate meetings, keep ones self-informed, and communicate information.
