Job summary

We have a vacancy for enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant who will beresponsible for the safe packaging and posting of medicines to patientshomes under the supervision of the Dispensary Team Leader.

You will work together with the Pharmacy Team to ensure that medications get to patients in timely manner, maintaining safe and adequate storage conditions at all times. The post holder will also be required to meet and greet Pharmacy visitors and assist with their requirements. Other duties will include the safe delivery of medicines to wards.

We are looking for someone with a good understanding of spoken and written English, basic IT and good communication skills in order to deal with a wide variety of pharmacy staff and ward staff.

You should be able to follow procedures closely and be able work well in ateam to provide a high-quality patient-focused service.We encourage learning, development and career progression

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will be trained in the use of the epic system to receipt prescriptions
  • To send medicines to patients/carers home address.
  • The post holder will be required to provide un-planned cover for the ward topping up service
  • To assist with Dispensing activities when required
  • Deliver medicines to the wards when required
  • To ensure that accurate records are maintained for medicines posted/couriered
  • To monitor storage conditions and ensure that medicines are delivered maintaining appropriate storage requirements where applicable within procedures.
  • To develop effective communication between the staff in the Pharmacy and visitors to the department.
  • To participate in the ward top-up rota for the replenishment of stock items, liaising with the ward Pharmacist and ward staff on a regular basis as required
  • To ensure that wastage of medicines is minimised by correct storage.
  • To attend monthly departmental meetings and other arranged CPD sessions, in order to keep one self-informed and to communicate information.
