Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic clinical bioinformatician to join our team based in the North Thames Genomic Laboratory Hub at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Our team is delivering transformation in patient care by developing new pipelines for rapid, comprehensive diagnosis of paediatric conditions to transform clinical services.

If you are committed to contributing to a team delivering excellence in research in genetics and genomics and would like to gain experience in clinical bioinformatics this is definitely the post for you. This Band 7 post is available immediately for one year. You will be joining an enthusiastic, friendly, motivated clinical bioinformatics team. This is an ideal opportunity to seriously contribute to translating research into clinical practice for the benefit of patients. This post is suitable for registered clinical bioinformaticians or trainee bioinformaticians close to registration.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide high end bioinformatics knowledge and support in the delivery of a reliable, competitive, efficient, cost effective and high-quality research and development programme that ultimately contributes to the diagnostic service
  • To pro-actively propose and develop improvements to the clinical service
  • To work with the Clinical Bioinformatics team along with other GLHs as required to facilitate the translation of research to clinical service.
  • To develop collaborative projects with fellow professionals from across the GLH and other national and international institutions as appropriate
  • To develop novel approaches to CNV analysis
