Job summary

There is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Clinical Trials Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital. We are looking for an experienced and committed pharmacist to lead the pharmacy paediatric cancer service.This is a busy and fast-paced tertiary paediatric clinical trials service. You will be a key member of an expert multidisciplinary team contributing to the safe and pharmaceutically appropriate service to children with cancer and their families.You will become a member of a nationally and internationally recognised team and be expected to champion the role of pharmacy across the trust. You will provide an exemplary clinical trial paediatric service in accordance with GCP and the research hospital strategy. Main duties of the job

  • To ensure that the Paediatric Cancer CTIMPs Clinical Trials are conducted in accordance with GCP, GMP, and all other relevant medicines regulations and ethical requirements.
  • To provide a good framework of pharmaceutical care through effective drug history taking and documentation, screening of different medication charts in accordance with the specifics of the clinical trials protocol, evaluating efficacy and toxicity of the investigational medications used, observing and reporting risk issues relating to the use of the investigational medications
  • To provide a clinical pharmacy service to the patients recruited to CTIMPs Paediatric Cancer Clinical Trials and support the Senior Specialist Haematology and Oncology Safari Day Care pharmacists.
  • To support the Senior Specialist Pharmacist, for Haematology and Oncology Clinical Trials in the timely setup of new studies
  • To ensure that pharmacy documentation is accurate and up to date based on the latest approved protocols and amendments
  • To support the Senior Specialist Pharmacists, in providing and retrieving costs of pharmacy research support services; and in liaising effectively with Sponsors and relevant parties regarding the initiation, maintenance, closure and archiving of Paediatric Cancer Clinical Trials
  • To support and supervise the Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technicians allocated to the Paediatric Haematology and Oncology trial portfolio
