Job summary

We have a new and exciting part time assistant psychologist post available within the Neurodevelopmental Stream at Great Ormond Street Hospital. This is a clinical post working alongside Clinical Psychologists providing specialist developmental and cognitive assessments for children undergoing neurodisability clinical trials within the hospital. The clinical trials service supports pioneering research to drive new treatments and cures for children with rare and complex diseases.

Main duties of the job

Your main responsibilities will be working with children who are inpatients and outpatients in GOSH's clinical research facility. You may also have the opportunity to work in the multidisciplinary outpatient Neurodisability service. You will work with children with a range of diagnoses and conditions including intellectual disability, rare inherited metabolic conditions, social communication disorders, visual impairment, and epilepsy. The role involves; direct psychometric and developmental assessment of children and young people, parent liaison and interview, pre and post assessment preparation and organisation, liaison with wider team and network members, managing clinic databases, and systematic data handling. For candidates with appropriate interest and skills, there is the opportunity to become involved in service developments, research projects, presentations and preparation of written papers.
