Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated Service Coordinator to join the Renal Support team within the Body, Bones and Mind Directorate at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, NHS Foundation Trust.

You will need to provide an administrative support for the service. This involves managing clinics and subsequent correspondence, providing excellent customer service to patients and families, and undertaking pathway management and validation.

As well as working closely with the Consultants, Allied Health Professionals, Registrars and Clinical Nurse Specialists within the Trust, you may also be asked to liaise with external agencies. You must be able to work calmly under pressure and have a proven track record in using your own initiative and prioritizing your workload in to meet tight deadlines.

Main duties of the job

  • To be the first point of contact for patients/parents, GPs, referrers and other healthcare professionals, managers and staff contacting the department.
  • To have specialist knowledge and use judgement to provide useful advice to colleagues and/or patients and families.
  • Provide expert advice and leadership to ensure that high quality service is delivered.
  • Liaise with clinicians and managers on all issues pertaining to the delivery of the service and follow through any necessary actions.
  • Train/support onboarding and /or demonstrate own activities to new or less experienced employees / support day to day coordination of staff.
