Great Ormond Street Hospital are looking for an 8PA Locum Plastic Surgery Consultant with a specialist interest in Craniofacial surgery. The surgeon, in conjunction with the current team of Plastic and Craniofacial surgeons will be responsible for delivering a Craniofacial surgical service at Great Ormond Street Hospital. A key role for this third Plastic Surgeon within the craniofacial team will be to increase capacity for multi-surgeon operating in line with national recommendations.
The appointee must have extensive training and experience in paediatric and adult Plastic surgery. The ideal candidate will have previous subspecialist experience in craniofacial surgery at fellowship or consultant level and a strong interest in clinical management and service development.
The new appointee will be expected to function as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team delivering clinics and surgery at Great Ormond Street hospital.
You must hold a full registration with the General Medical Council and preferably be on the Specialist Registrar or within 3 months of obtaining CCST. Main duties of the job
The appointment is for an 8 PA Plastic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Craniofacial surgery. The surgeon, in conjunction with the current team of Plastics and Craniofacial surgeons will be responsible for delivering a Craniofacial surgical service at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The appointee will be expected:
- To provide a plastic surgical service at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.
- To provide a craniofacial service commensurate with the experience of the candidate within a multidisciplinary surgical team.
- To undertake clinics and operating sessions for patients currently on waiting lists for paediatric plastic surgery.
- To take an active part in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training of health care professionals
- To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams involved in providing excellent patient care.
- To work flexibly covering operating lists when other consultants are on leave
The ideal candidate will have international experience in paediatric plastic surgery. The ideal candidate will have experience of working at consultant level in a national referral centre for Craniofacial surgery and have an interest in clinical management, service development and the advancement of the field of paediatric plastic surgery.
