Digital Learning Fellow - (ST4+ or equivalent)
An exciting opportunity is available for doctors with an interest in education, to join Great Ormond Street Hospital as a Fellow in Digital Learning. This post within our Digital Learning Team will progress the digital future of education at GOSH, working closely on the development of our Virtual Learning Environment and exploring the use of podcasts, interactive digital learning platforms and gamification.
The trust is committed to becoming the first-choice provider of paediatric education and significant recent investment has been made in education, with the funding of the GOSH Learning Academy (GLA) by the GOSH Charity. The post holder will join the GLA Education Team at a time of expansion and development of education within our hospital. The role would be for a Speciality Registrar (ST4+ or equivalent) to develop their skills in education while being able to continue limited clinical activity in the area of their choice.
Previous digital learning or coding experience is NOT required.
If the successfully appointed candidate is currently in a recognised HEE training post, this post can be undertaken as an Out of Programme Experience with approval from their local HEE Specialty School. Funding for completion of a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) during this period is available.
Main duties of the job
The aims of the role are:
- To support the Digital Learning Team in the design and delivery/production of a range of digital educational content.
- The post-holder will contribute to the development of:
- The Virtual Learning Environment
- Digital media for learning, teaching and assessment including video content, podcasts and written material
- Social media to engage staff and students in learning, teaching and assessment
- The use of popular commercial software and free educational software
- A range of devices on different platforms and of mobile apps and their relevance in education
