Job summary

GOSH Technical Services department contributes greatly to the pharmacy department's vision to ensure safe, effective andrational use of medicines through the provision of high quality products and services.

Applications are invited from Pharmacists with a sound background & keen interest in Aseptic Manufacturing to join our dynamic and progressive Team. The post holder will be expected to participate in all services provided which include the Central Intravenous Additive (C.I.V.A.S), Chemotherapy Preparative and Parenteral Nutrition Services. This position also will require working closely with the Quality Assurance department for the maintenance of the Quality Management system.

This is an excellent opportunity to directly input and deliver on new projects within the Pharmacy department e.g. planning of the new aseptic unit, optimisation phase of the new Electronic Prescribing and manufacturing systems (EPIC), automation andto be a part ofthe Technical Services leadership team to mention but a few.

This post calls for good organizational & supervisory skills to meet changing clinical and pharmaceutical needs, plus keeping abreast of regulatory requirements and technology.

As the successful candidate, you will need to evidence demonstrable/substantial experience in an Aseptic manufacturing environment. You must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Main duties of the job

  • To work closely with the Aseptic Service Managers (ASMs) and Unit Managers (UMs) in the managing the day-to-day workload of the manufacturing units within the unit's capacity plan
  • To deputise for the Head of Pharmacy Manufacturing (HPM).
  • To lead on the recruitment process for new members of staff where requested
  • To act as a Releasing Officer (RO) for the release of aseptically manufactured products under a Manufacturers 'Specials' licence (MS).
  • To lead or assist as designated in the management of deviations, changes or any remedial, corrective or preventative actions that may result from them
  • To work collaboratively with the HPM and Clinical Trials Principal Pharmacist & Team, to co-ordinate the supply and preparation of IMPs within the aseptic facilities, ensuring compliance with current GCP guidelines and EU Clinical Trials Directives.
  • To attend all appropriate meetings, keep ones self-informed, and communicate information
  • To take responsibility for maintaining ones training portfolio and ensure that all validations and accreditations are complete and up to date for any duties that need to be performed.
