Job summary

Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Family Therapist with an interest in paediatric, chronic and life limiting health conditions? If so, this part-time post is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills by delivering family therapy based at GOSH supporting families with complex needs and staff to work together to improve the health and well being of their children. This includes where there may be medical concerns, learning difficulties and psychosocial stressors.

You will be supported and supervised by the Consultant Lead Family Therapist. Your role will be to assess families jointly with the team and plan a programme for each family individually. This will require very close collaboration with the family and your colleagues, and often with other agencies such as social care, medical / health and schools. The team will be based at Great Ormond Street but may also include home and related visits. This is a part time post, 0.8 wte, 30 hours each week.

Main duties of the job

You will join a team led by Lead Family Therapist, working alongside other disciplines and colleagues .   • Knowledge of child development, child and adolescent mental health and an understanding of a range of theoretical approaches.
  • Knowledge of the evidence base in relation to family and systemic psychotherapy and in relation to the child and adolescent mental health more generally.
  • Knowledge of legislation in relation to children and young people and child protection.

  • Experience of teaching or training.
