Job summary
The post-holder will work as part of the Renal Support Unit for a fixed 8-month secondment to the home therapies team. This is a unique role which requires renal expertise managing a cohort of patients and will be supervised by a Band 7 Renal Clinical Nurse Specialist. The post holder will deliver care to patients with renal conditions by working within one of the specialist renal nursing teams.
This post will enable the individual to develop enhanced knowledge, skills, and competence in managing the care of children and families requiring home dialysis. It is expected that the post holder will share the expertise gained with the wider multi-disciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work with the renal home therapies team, providing care to patients on both peritoneal dialysis and home haemodialysis. The post holder will work under the supervision of a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to provide support to the clinical team in managing the caseload across the renal care pathway.
All specialist nurses are expected to work clinically as part of a ward roster. This requirement is equivalent to at least one full 12.5 hour shifts per month based on full time employment (pro rata if part time) but may be subject to variation or review according to individual service requirements.
