Job summary
Clinical Fellow (Equivalent of ST5+) in Paediatric Interventional Radiology
Applications are invited for a 1-year Paediatric Interventional Radiology (PIR) fellowship within the Interventional Radiology (IR) department at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust. This post is suitable for a ST5, or equivalent trainee, or someone looking to gain additional experience before taking up a consultant appointment.
Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) is an international centre of excellence in child healthcare. In 2018/19 we received 237,908 outpatient visits and 43,218 inpatient visits, across 63 different clinical specialties, meaning GOSH offers the widest range of specialist health services for children on one site. In addition, GOSH is partnered with the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (ICH) and is the largest paediatric centre in Europe dedicated to both clinical and basic scientific research. GOSH and UCL Great Ormond Street ICH have been awarded NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) status and are the only paediatric BRC in the UK.
The PIR department is the largest in Europe and the service is equipped with the latest technology designed specifically for the paediatric cohort of patients. Our close links with the UCL Great Ormond Street ICH, as well as industry, ensure we are up to date with the latest research and technological advancements.
Main duties of the job
Scope of the role
This post is available to ST5+ trainees (or equivalent) with an interest in Paediatric Interventional Radiology (PIR) and ideally for trainees who have completed the FRCR examination (or equivalent). This post provides a unique opportunity to gain experience in the full spectrum of PIR procedures including both vascular and non-vascular interventions. There is also the potential to gain exposure to Paediatric Neurointerventional Radiology procedures. Training is supervised by a Consultant PIR in a one-to-one fashion.
Although some experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) is desirable, it is not essential, and it is acknowledged that successful applicants may have little experience in paediatric subspecialty cases.
About us

All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, disability status or length of time spent unemployed.
We particularly welcome applications from BAME communities, people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions and LGBT+ community members.
We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that all applicants and employees are treated fairly and consistently. We are proud to be accredited as a Disability Confident Employer, a member of Business Disability Forum and a Stonewall Diversity Champion.
