Band 6 Deputy Head of Play - Play Specialists.

This is an exciting role and opporunity to join the play service at Great Ormond Street, where you will be working alongside the Head of Play, to ensure that the health play specialist team provide a welcoming, safe, and secure environment where culturally diverse population's needs are being represented through-out the service.

This role will focus on supporting development, line management, and, training, where you you will use your skills and experience to supervise, assess and mentor play specialists, students and health play specialist apprentices taking an active role in growing the service, and promoting the role of play within the trust, providing leadership to staff through role modelling and best practice adhering to the HPSET standards and registration processes,

You will also lead on data creation, and user feedback to communicate the impact of the health play specialist to the NHS, our charity partners and other stake holders.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside the Head of Play Services you will:

  • Ensure the Health Play Specialist Team provide a welcoming, safe and secure environment where culturally diverse populations' needs are being represented throughout the service.
  • Support the development of an equitable provision of Health Play Specialist service access throughout the Trust, mindful of the need to engage all children and young people and adapt a service to meet them at their point of need.
  • Be responsible for the management of senior staff within the Health Play Specialist Service as delegated by the Head of Play Service.
  • Take an active role in improving care pathways and patient experience for children, young people and their families.
  • Supervise, assess and mentor Health Play Specialist apprentices and students on practice placement.
  • Continually learn and develop yourself, contributing to a learning culture in the team
