Psychological Therapist

Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust

The closing date is 19 January 2025

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in the development of a new clinical service for adults experiencing complex PTSD. We are looking for an experienced psychological therapist with a background in CBT, EMDR and/ or creative therapies (art, drama, music) to join our team. This service is a multi- modality, applied psychology-led service in Northamptonshire, established in recognition of an unmet clinical need in local pathways, especially between Talking Therapies and secondary mental health services. The complex PTSD service offers specialist clinical interventions, and also promotes trauma-informed approaches in the wider service and across mental health pathways.

We are looking for suitably qualified clinicians - ideally with some specialist clinical experience in the field of complex trauma, as well as some experience in working with complex clinical presentations in Adult Mental Health. Potential applicants should also be experienced in providing supervision.

There are also good opportunities for people wishing to work part-time or across a couple of different specialties in the Trust.

Interview date- Tuesday 28th January in person

The successful applicant(s) would receive professional support and be professionally and clinically accountable to the Consultant Clinical Psychologist Service Lead for the Complex PTSD service.

Main duties of the job

Equally important is the ability to develop innovative practice and play a lead role in a completely new service. You would need to contribute to the vision for this new service, work closely with partners in primary and secondary care. This will require you to exercise collaborative leadership skills within the Team and to promote the service externally. We are looking for an innovative and resilient clinician with evidenced training who can operate with confidence and credibility to play a key role in this new service. Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to influence and negotiate successfully are essential. You will contribute to developing and monitoring the clinical outcomes and impact of the service and will have a flexible approach to changing patterns of service delivery as needed.

There are a significant number of psychologists employed within the Trust working across different specialties and there are excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. We welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds who are under-represented in service delivery.

About us

Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation NHS Trust was rated as "Outstanding" by CQC in 2018 and is a great place to work. We are proud of the Psychology provision within the Trust, and feedback has consistently been that we have a well-developed Psychology network in the Trust which offers a strong sense of professional identity, support and strategic influence. Psychology and psychological approaches are highly valued in the Trust, and Psychologists have the opportunity to shape clinical and organisational strategy as well as provide clinical services. We believe that supporting and involving our staff means that they enjoy their work more, and that our clinical services are better as a result.

NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.

We want our workforce to represent the diversity of the people and communities we work with. Studies show that people from minoritized ethnic groups and women are less likely to apply if they don't meet every requirement.
