Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Northamptonshire Integrated Sexual Health Service (NISHH) within the countywide coding and recall team (CaRT) as the Service Lead in this area. NISHH undertake thousands of pathology tests annually as part of the service provided to the residents of Northamptonshire and out of area in relation to their sexual health needs. The successful post holder will be responsible for management of test results, ensuring that episodes are coded correctly along with coordinating the recall of patients for the clinical management of test results. Close liaison with the pathology laboratories will be required to ensure timely receipt of accurate results. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for the line management of a team of band four administrators working within this arm of the service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate for this post should be an enthusiastic, committed team member, a good communicator and a non-judgmental, discreet individual. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential for the role, as well as a thorough understanding of confidentiality within a sexual health service context must be demonstrated. Previous NHS experience is desirable alongside knowledge of the services patient electronic record system; Lilie.

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Educated to GCSE standard or with equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Experience of working in an administrative role/office environment previously
  • Experience of using IT systems including electronic patient records and Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook
  • Experience of managing and leading teams including conducting appraisals and supervision
  • Prior knowledge and use of the electronic patient record system; Lilie
  • Evidence of basic knowledge of HARS and GUMCAD systems
  • Knowledge of coding of both clinical and service attendances
  • Demonstrable experience of patient recall by telephone with the ability to explain to patients about the presence of an STI, either in Genitourinary Medicine or Chlamydia screening setting
  • Well-developed risk assessment skills for the safe management of complex pathology results with clear understanding of escalation points to clinical consultants
  • Experience of HR processes such as well being management, performance reviews and recruitment

Desirable

  • Experience of completing performance and data returns
  • Experience of quality monitoring and audit
  • Customer service skills to include management of patient complaints
  • Experience of working in a sexual health setting
