Senior Clinical Psychologist-Gender Identity Clinic
This job is now closed
Job summary
NHFT Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) provides a nationally commissioned specialist service of assessment, diagnosis and non-surgical treatment pathways for Trans and Non-Binary people, helping them to realise their goals of transition to their identified gender. A vibrant and diverse patient group means that no two service users present in the same way, and complex presentations often require further psychologically-based exploration, formulation and problem-solving to help individuals make life-changing choices that are right for them.
Previous experience of working within the field of Gender Identity is highly desirable, but-aside from an established grounding in recognised approved psychological formulations and interventions-compassion, open-mindedness and a willingness to professionally develop and learn are essential qualities for the successful candidate.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client's care.
To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client's psychological issues including developmental background, long term personality adaptations, interpersonal patterns of relating, service and diagnostic issues. These plans will be based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
