Job summary
The post holder will ensure the provision of research based high quality care to residents in Yarl's Wood in accordance with local and national policies.
The post holder will undertake various duties within Yarl's Wood, including acting as a responder to emergencies, screening residents in reception, triaging residents and holding nurse led clinics.
The post holder will demonstrate leadership qualities and set an example to junior staff through their own behavior and attitude at all times.
The post holder will oversee the provision of day to day healthcare services in the absence of the primary care lead
The post holder will participate in audits, research and project work as requested.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for supervising and supporting junior staff / students and support their development and education.
The post holder will develop and support the concept of change, contributing ideas whilst demonstrating an awareness of immigration issues.
The post holding will oversee the management of the IDTS Services and complete audits within the center.
The post holder must have a RCGP level 1 certificate.

- Autonomously assess and manage residents care in a secured healthcare environment
- Appropriately use the NEWS 2 assessment too
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills, ensuring contemporaneous healthcare records are maintained
- Administer medications in accordance with NHFT and locally agreed policies and guidanc
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe, clinically effective and cost-efficient nursing care to residents
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Provide care advice to members of the clinical team on the management of complex medical issues
- Utilise a wide range of communication skills, treating residents with respect and empathy at all times
- Actively participate in and support clinical audit and clinical governance systems at a local level, including the collection of data
- Undertake risk assessments and take appropriate professional action when the nature of the behaviour, symptoms or illness is likely to lead to self-harm or injury to others
- Ensure nursing practice is fully reflected in the use of the Trust electronic record system
- Be able to work in a fast paced, multi-level environmen
