An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Clinical or Counselling Psychologist with expertise in working with people with complex emotional needs to join our specialist multi-disciplinary team.
In addition to the benefits offered under the NHS terms and conditions of service, this post additionally attracts an incentive of £5000 pro rata for the successful applicant/s paid over the first 18 months of employment. Please note incentive payments are not applicable to existing NHFT substantive staff. Terms and conditions apply. In addition, a relocation package is available up to £8,000, if the successful postholder relocates to Northamptonshire and meets other eligibility criteria. This is subject to approval
Main duties of the job
- Provide psychological assessment and evidence-based intervention, contributing to DBT and SCM Programmes
- Provide psychologically informed consultation and training to practitioners across a range of core services
- Supervise and support team members in their delivery of interventions and consultation to other services
- Contribute to an internal CPD Programme and further development of the service's clinical programme and governance frameworks
- Contribute to wider pathway developments in key areas such as integrating trauma-informed care principles, decreasing health inequalities, adapting standard interventions for neurodiversity and promoting psychological formulation in risk management and safety planning.
- Specialised knowledge of 'personality disorder' interventions and trauma-focused interventions
- Experience of working with people with complex needs, often termed 'personality disorder' and be passionate about reducing exclusion, and meeting the core therapeutic needs of this group
- Self-reflective practice skills and a passion for modelling and promoting this within the team and wider network
- Good communication and team working skills to collaborate with a variety of groups and stakeholders
- Clinical and authentic leadership skills
You will need to be well organised and able to cope in potentially challenging situations and high-pressure environments. Flexibility is required as there may be some travelling to/from different sites across the county.
About us
The Northants Personality Disorder Hub is a countywide specialist service that works to enhance understanding of 'personality disorder' and promote the delivery of effective interventions across community and inpatient services in Northamptonshire. The team comprises of staff from a range of professional backgrounds (including nursing, occupational therapy and clinical psychology) and is led by a Consultant Clinical Psychologist.
The service provides a Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) programme at two locations across the county and leads on the delivery of Structured Clinical Management (SCM) across general secondary mental health services. Alongside this, the service also offer psychologically informed training and consultation to community and inpatient teams, and benefits from an established group of experts by experience who are passionate about promoting hope, improving services and co-developing and delivering staff training. The service is passionate about decreasing health inequalities, promoting trauma-informed practice, and offering interventions that have a real impact on peoples' long-term quality of life and resilience.
This post will give the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their capabilities within a highly supportive and motivated multidisciplinary team. As a contributor to Health Education England (HEE) DBT and SCM national training programmes the service is at the forefront of transforming services and providing high quality care.
