Job summary
This part time post is with the North Urgent Care and Treatment (UCAT) team based at St Mary's Hospital, Kettering. We would consider combining it with another post in the trust if this was requested.
Clinical Psychology in UCAT offers the chance for psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for adults and their families that present in crisis. There is the opportunity to train, supervise and provide reflective practice sessions to MDT colleagues.
The team is welcoming of psychology and keen to increase the use of formulation and psychologically informed and psychological interventions.
This permanent post benefits from a recruitment incentive of £5,000 pro rata for successful candidates over 2.5 years. Initial payment of £2,000 will be made in the 1st month with a subsequent payment of £2,000 made on the 13th month of employment. The remaining £1,000 will be paid out in the 18th month of employment. Terms and conditions apply.
Relocation package is available up to £8, 000, if the successful postholder relocates to Northamptonshire and meet other eligibility criteria. This is subjected to approval
Main duties of the job
The post would involve working in an MDT carrying out assessment, formulation and interventions to those in crisis situations. Part of the role would involve increasing the MDT's skill in being able to conduct psychologically informed assessment, formulations and interventions too. There are also opportunities to be involved in staff training, staff wellbeing, service development, reflective practice and case formulation with teams.
The post is supervised by the Principal Clinical Psychologist working in South UCAT. There would be opportunities to closely work and liaise with colleagues from other teams.

Essential
- Doctoral level training in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent), including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology, as accredited by the BPS, or Doctoral level training in Counselling Psychology (or equivalent - masters level plus completed post qualification training).
- HCPC registration, if a practitioner psychologist
- Substantial post-qualification experience of working in an mental health, providing NICE compliant interventions
- Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a range of physical and mental health conditions and across care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, particularly trauma.
- Experience of supervising other psychological therapist practitioners within a clinical mental health service.
- Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision of staff from a range of clinical backgrounds.
Desirable
- Experience of working with severe and complex mental health difficulties.
- Experience of risk assessment and risk management strategies and their application to practice.
- Experience of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working across primary, secondary, tertiary and non-statutory organisations.
