An exciting opportunity has arisen to develop your skills within the Adult Speech & Language Therapy Service -
We have a new fulltime post specializing in Head and Neck Cancer and Acute Stroke
The post is split across the two pathways WTE 0.5 in each.
We welcome applications from HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapists with significant experience in the field of adults with complex Communication / Dysphagia across Stroke and Head and Neck Cancer.
The post is based within the Head and Neck multi-disciplinary team and the Acute Stoke Multi- disciplinary team at Northampton General Hospital. Both pathways have a Service lead and the band 7 role would be to support the service Lead in service development as well as taking on staff supervision and development with in both pathways
Main duties of the job
The Head and Neck service provides Surgical and Oncological treatment for patients with head and neck cancer living in Northamptonshire and Milton Keynes. It is a specialist field and not all SLTs will have had a chance to develop skills in this area. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic SLT who wishes to develop skills in assessment and treatment of communication and swallowing disorders related to head and neck cancer.
Northampton General Hospital has a dynamic and highly rated stroke service as the designated centre for countywide acute stroke services. There are close working relationships with the stroke MDT and Northamptonshire stroke community services including strong networking and in-service training opportunities.
The Acute Stroke service provides Acute and Rehab S< provision across two wards within Northampton General Hospital.
You will have the ability to work on your own initiative yet thrive as a valued member of a multi-disciplinary team across both pathways .
You will possess excellent interpersonal and team-working skills and approach your work with energy and enthusiasm.

You will be supported to continue to develop and demonstrate leadership behaviours as you are encouraged to actively contribute to the ongoing development of the service. You will be expected to provide mentorship support to colleagues, SLT Assistant Practitioners and students.
