Job summary
NHFT would like to recruit a qualified and registered Senior Dental Nurse for Oral Surgery. Reporting to the Dental Nurse Team Manger, the Senior Dental Nurse will provide clinical support as a chairside dental nurse and also have responsibility for maintaining high standards of cross infection control within all clinical areas, communicating effectively with other team members, patients and other services to ensure safe effective delivery of care.
In addition to assisting the teams at your base at Willowbrook Health Centre Corby you will be required to work at our other locations across Northamptonshire . You should hold the National Certificate/Diploma, NVQ level 3 or FdSc in Dental Nursing or equivalent and have current registration with the General Dental Council. For this post you will also need to have acquired post qualification training in at least sedation or radiography, and be passionate about continuing professional development.
You will ideally have significant experience at a senior dental nursing level as this post will include supervision of your dental nursing team , experience of stock control and data gathering . Senior responsibilities also include ensuring that dental nursing staff and dental surgeries within a defined locality operate effectively and safely and undertaking specific responsibilities delegated to the locality. The post holder will need to develop strong links with colleagues across the dental service which is countywide.

The post holder will be working in an integrated skill mix team that includes as follows:
- Specialists in Special Care Dentistry
- Senior Dental Officers -Band B
- Dental Officers-Band A
- Dentists on training pathways including DCT2, Clinical Fellows and Specialist Registrar
- Clinical Team Lead-Operational Support
- Dental Nurse Team Manager
- Senior Dental Nurses and Extended Duties Dental Nurses
- Qualified Dental Nurses
- Service PA and countywide administrative team
- Oral Health Promotion Specialist
The post holder will need to develop strong links with colleagues across the dental service which is countywide.
Reporting to the Dental Nurse Team Manger/Clinical Team Lead, the Senior Dental Nurse will provide clinical support as a chairside dental nurse and also have responsibility for maintaining high standards of cross infection control within all clinical areas, communicating effectively with other team members, patients and other services to ensure safe effective delivery of care.
The Senior Dental Nurse must maintain high levels of professional competence and demonstrate ability to reflect on professional practice and identify future learning needs.
Senior responsibilities include ensuring that dental nursing staff and dental surgeries within a defined locality operate effectively and safely and undertaking specific responsibilities delegated to the particular locality.
Dental software systems is essential.
