Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust are expanding their peer support service.

Peer support is when people use their own lived experiences to support others who are having similar experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with personal experience of caring for a loved one with mental health challenges to share this experience and support others.

We are looking for 'Carer Peer Support Workers'to work within our Mental Health Service based at the Welland Centre, St Mary's Hospital, Kettering.

Main duties of the job

Carer Peer Support Workers in our mental health hospitals have experience of caring for someone who has experienced mental distress and has been in hospital. The aim of the role is to support other families and carers of people experiencing mental distress directly, including one to one, in small family groups and wider carer groups.

The role is to complement the support given by healthcare professionals to inspire hope and empower families and other carers to support their family member to reach their own individual recovery goals and make sense of their personal recovery journey as well as manage their own wellbeing.

Please note, applicants who do not indicate that they have lived experience of supporting a family member or friend with mental health challenges in their application will not be considered for the role.

Our experience is that the people most likely to be invited to interview are those who refer to the points on the person specification in their supporting statement.
