Band 6 Occupational Therapist

Full time hours with weekend and bank holiday working on a rota basis. Part time might be considered with a minimum of 22.5hrs per week

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be working in an integrated multi professional inpatient team that includes physiotherapists, occupational therapist, ward matron, nurses, unregistered staff including therapy assistants, medical staff and wider trust colleagues. The post holder will need to provide quality care for a group of patients, specialising rehabilitation and sub-acute care from patients stepping down from acute hospitals and step up patients for acute hospital admission avoidance in a physical health inpatient unit. The role entails extensive involvement in ensuring patients are discharged safely which involves close working with colleagues from other services and liaison with family members and leading and participating in family meetings.

The post holder will have their own caseload, working without direct supervision and work as a specialist autonomous practitioner and will be responsible for supervision and delegation to junior therapy team members. Will be required to carry the whole ward caseload in the absence of other Occupational Therapy Colleague and prioritise workload accordingly.

The post holder will be expected to manage the therapy team in the absence of the therapy team leader providing support to junior colleagues and assisting them in problem solving any issues relating to patients and staff.
