The Physiotherapist apprenticeship is a new and innovative route to 'Learn while you Earn' and combines 4 years of clinical employment with work based and academic learning.
We are recruiting for a physiotherapy apprentice role in Northamptonshire. You will be employed as an Apprentice Physiotherapist at NHFT with the Physiotherapy Service (MSK and APP). Physiotherapists provide specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for musculoskeletal conditions.
As a physiotherapy apprentice you will have the opportunity to broaden your knowledge, skills and experience during placements to a range of settings and be provided with dedicated time to study for your degree in Physiotherapy in conjunction with Coventry University.
As an employee of NHFT you will demonstrate our values, and once you have completed all the requirements for registration as a qualified Physiotherapist, you will become a Band 5 Physiotherapist within the Trust. During your employment you will also benefit from employee support and wellbeing packages offered to our staff.
Main duties of the job
The employed apprentice will be a trainee in Physiotherapy, working within the MSK physiotherapy team at one of our countywide locations.
You will work under the direction and support of the registered physiotherapists to undertake assessments and provide individual and group treatments enabling individuals to manage pain, regain strength and balance, improve mobility, minimise risk of falls and build stamina so that they can undertake day to day tasks that they need and want to do. The aim of treatment is to motivate and enable each individual to re-build daily living and coping skills in order to reach their goals and return to their optimum function and activity levels.
You will continuously develop your skills and abilities as you progress through the degree programme so that on completion you have the level of required competence to meet professional standards as a registered physiotherapist.
The apprenticeship post is a fixed term, developmental role over 4 years and 3 months, integrating academic and work-based learning towards successful completion of a BSC (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy and recognition by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a registered Physiotherapist.
At the end of the programme the apprentice will be encouraged to apply for Band 5 physiotherapy posts within NHFT.
