Job summary
The Children and Young People's Improving Access to Psychological Therapies programme (CYP IAPT) is a service transformation programme delivered by Health Education England and partners that aims to improve existing children and young people's mental health Services (CYP MHS) working in the community. There are five guiding principles one of which is improving access to evidence based psychological therapies.
To apply, you must meet the criteria for CBT trainingand alsohave a BABCP-recognisedprofessional background in mental health or related areas. This means having a recognised CoreProfession. Main duties of the job
The post holder will learn and implement Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to improve the emotional health and well-being of children and young people. There is an expectation the post holder will work with other agencies and the multidisciplinary team in Core CAMHS to support young people and families.
The post holder will complete a Postgraduate Diploma in CBT for children and young people at University of Reading. This course comprises attending teaching and supervision at the university in conjunction with completing a workplace placement in Core CAMHS where a case load and supervision is expected. Moreover the post holder will be required to complete ongoing learning and development through video recording their sessions with young people and reviewing these at both university and workplace supervision. The post holder will be expected to implement the CBT knowledge and skills they learn through assessment, formulation and ongoing adherence to CBT treatment protocols. They will be care coordinating and managing a caseload independently with the support of a workplace supervisor, team lead, and course staff.
The course you will be completing at the University of Reading as part of this role is a Level 2 accredited course with BABCP. This means that upon completion trainees will meet criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP.
