Job summary
- Do you want to ensure people with severe and enduring mental illness's psychological needs are fully understood and met by the staff who support them within their placements (e.g. supported living, residential and nursing).
- Do you want to offer psychological interventions to placements who are struggling to meet their service users' needs or are struggling with compassion fatigue/burnout, so that people continue to have a secure base in which to recover?
- Do you feel it is important to have a psychological perspective present when decisions about people's care and funding are made?
We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, and reflective 8a psychologist to take an important role in supporting the Individual Funding Team to take a formulation informed approach to finding and maintaining the correct placements for people. The individual Funding Team is responsible for managing mental health funding for external packages of care, such as locked rehabilitation placements, residential care, supported living and therapies or treatments that cannot be provided internally by Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
For this post, we are looking for someone with experience of using robust psychological formulations to enhance the care offered by themselves and the wider MDT. Experience of working indirectly and systemically with staff teams, placements and other multi-disciplinary colleagues would be an advantage. As would a recovery or rehabilitation ethos. We are also looking for someone who is keen to offer 1:1 clinical supervision, peer supervision/reflective practice and teaching to others.
Supervision and line management for this post is provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead for the Recovery Pathway (interim). There are monthly meetings with psychologycolleagues in the pathway to discuss cases, receive CPD and explore organisational issues. Job planned time for training and research is available and encouraged. There are a significant number of psychologists within NHFT working across different specialties and there are also excellent opportunities for professional development through regular monthly trust wide psychology meetings and active peer supervision networks. The Trust enjoys good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses.

'This permanent post benefits from a recruitment incentive of £5,000 pro rata for successful candidates over 18 months. Initial payment of £2,000 will be made in the 1st month with a subsequent payment of £2,000 made on the 13th month of employment.
