Job summary
I want a qualified Mental Health Nurse who is prepared to challenge the preconceived ideas of working with offenders in the prison setting to help me change the way offenders with mental illness are understood.
I have a vacancy for a Band 6 Mental Health Professional who has some experience of working in a secure setting or with offenders but this is not essential. You will be responsible for your own case load working in a Category C male prison as part of a small team. You will be able to provide the assessment and planned delivery of care to a group of individuals who can present with very complex needs, the Mental Heath Professional I'm looking for will see this as a challenge. We work as a Community Mental Health Team but cover both secondary and primary mental health services but do not dispense medication, this is done by the wider Healthcare Team. We run like a GP Service and are a integrated with Healthcare. We manage a depot clinic and also have groups such as Trauma and Emotional Regulation and hold a Wellbeing weekly drop in clinic. The service is 9-5 Monday until Friday, the team do not work bank holidays. We have free parking and a subsidised canteen on site.
If you have previous experience working with Mental Illness with complex needs including Personality disorder and complex Trauma, then this is the place you want to be working. We are a Trauma Informed Service with training available in-house for you to progress and improve your nursing skills.
