Job summary
The Treatment Centre at Berrywood Hospital, Northampton provides a countywide ECT, Ketamine Infusions and Ketamine Oral therapy for some types of severe mental illness that have not responded to other treatments, for patients from the age of 18 years upwards.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 RGN recovery nurse/ODP Clinical Team Lead within the Treatment Centre, the post is part-time hours 8am to 13.00pm (hours can be extended to 15 hours) for 2 days per week on a Tuesday and Friday. The role is specialised, and the post-holder will be working in a small integrated skill mixed team consisting of RMN's, Anaesthetists and Medics.
We are looking for a highly motivated and professional HCPC registered Operating Department Practitioner or RGN Recovery Nurse to work with a friendly team providing high quality care for patients who attend the service for Electro-convulsive therapy or Ketamine infusion/oral therapy.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Team Leader should have the necessary experience and knowledge of ECT within an ECT setting however, training can be given and this requirement is not essential to apply. The post holder will be required to work in partnership with the existing RMN Clinical Team Lead to ensure a positive patient experience by delivering high standards of care throughout the department.

Day to day duties include: -
- Experience in Anaesthetics, recovery and care of the deteriorating patient.
- Ensuring facilities and resources are available in working order and properly prepared on treatment day.
- Supporting the RMN staff in preparing patients for either ECT or Ketamine treatment.
- This will include providing information and advice on recovery and anaesthetics.
- Participating in the treatment process and finally arranging any follow-up action, assessment or evaluation.
- Ensure the clinic adheres to the Trust infection control policy and guidelines.
- Ordering and stocking of medication and equipment as required.
- The post-holder will be expected to deliver student and external training sessions on ECT and Ketamine treatment, training others on this specialised subject is an essential part of the role.
- Supervising staff, completing appraisals and mentoring students.
- Deputise for the matron when required.
