Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust
This job is now closed
Job summary
We are very pleased to advertise for a Highly Specialist Systemic Family Psychotherapist to join the Dementia and Older People's Psychology Service (DOPPS) within Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT). The DOPPS is embedded in all services supporting older people experiencing distress from emotional disorders or psychosis, as well as families facing dementia regardless of age. We are very willing to support applicants who are considering working with older people but who have previous experience in other areas. Joint roles with other service areas within NHFT may also be possible. Flexible working opportunities are available; it is anticipated that it may be possible for the role to involve working from home one day a week.
Main duties of the job
We are looking to recruit a Highly Specialist Systemic Family Psychotherapist to develop weekly clinics to support families accessing our services in the north and south of the county, as well as supporting our multi-disciplinary workforce to become more confident in working with families. The caseload for this role will be guided by the AFT's guidance on clinical caseloads. All qualified DOPPS staff are line managed within the wider psychology service.
Several options around the county are available in terms of base location (Daventry, Northampton, Rushden, Corby) and can be tailored to applicants' own locality. There are four Older People's Community Mental Health Teams (OPCMHTs) in the county, each working alongside one of the four co-located Memory Assessment Services (MAS). Each OPCMHT has an Assistant Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Consultant Psychiatrist, Occupational Therapist, Peer/Carer Support Worker, Staff Grade Psychiatrist, Support Worker and Service Manager, as well as offering training placements to doctoral trainees and other students.
The 2 in-patient units are based in Kettering and Northampton, each with 2 wards for Older People supported by an in-patient psychology post. In addition, there is a service for Younger People with Dementia, supported by 2 part-time psychology posts.
About us
Our services are evolving to provide a wider range of interventions to our service users including family therapy clinics. You would be leading the development of this service with support from the psychology staff based in each community team.
We value supervision and professional identity and therefore will ensure that you are networked with other experienced family therapists across the Trust, including those in Adult Mental Health and the Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (CAMHS; where the Clinical Director is a Consultant Family Therapist, supervisor and trainer). As we have staff in various stages of systemic training across the Trust, this post may be attractive to someone who has, or is due to qualify, or someone who is interested in developing their skills as a systemic supervisor.
