Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the well-established Multi-disciplinary rTMS team for a full time, band 6 CTL (37.5 hours per week) on a 12 month secondment / fixed term basis.
We are looking for a motivated Mental Health Nurse to help us change the lives of patients with depression. You will have experience as a Band 5 RMN and are looking for a development opportunity as a Band 6 leadership role. You will be key in assisting the unit matron in the ongoing service development and will be passionate about the service with ideas to keep us progressing within this innovative area.
The Centre for Neuromodulation at Berrywood Hospital runs four rTMS machines and is the longest running clinical rTMS service in the NHS and the largest in the country.
The rTMS team is largely nurse led and if you are an independent, self motivated, autonomous practitioner this is the team for you. High standards are expected and are the norm for all members of the MDT.
The rTMS team currently provides a county wide service within NHFT. As a member of the team you will be provided with a range of mandatory, external and in house training and clinical supervision. The team are highly motivated to continue developing the unit and welcome innovative ways to improve patient care.
Main duties of the job
Due to the current Clinical Team Leader's maternity leave, an exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the clinical rTMS team in the development and delivery of a high-quality innovative treatment on a 12-month basis.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is a type of neuromodulation that delivers electromagnetic currents through a figure of 8 coil placed on target areas of the brain that are responsible for conditions such as Depression, Anxiety and OCD. This is a non-invasive treatment whereby the person is awake and communicative and will attend our service daily for a period of up to 8 weeks for treatment. rTMS is an exciting area to work in and we are proud of our achievements to date.
About us
NHFT is an integrated primary care and mental health Trust, providing physical, mental health and specialty services in both hospital settings and out in the community. Because we put the person at the centre of all we do, we focus on delivering care that is as easy to access as possible. This means many of our services can be provided at home, work or in schools. We also provide health services to various prisons and detention centres in Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire.
